American Airlines Uptades Their Checked Bag Policies

Customers of American Airlines who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after May 12, 2008 but before June 15, 2008 may check one bag for free and check a second bag for $25 each way. Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after June 15, 2008 will be charged $15 each way for the first checked bag and $25 each way for the second checked bag. Our carry-on policy of one personal item (such as a purse or laptop bag) plus one bag remains in place.

I think many people will be taking carry-on bags, which means this will cause the over head compartments  to fill up pretty fast.

American Airlines AA.com: Now Serving Your Mobile Phone

American Airlines has introduced a mobile version of AA.com which allows their customers to access many features of AA.com through a Web enabled cell phone or other web enabled devices. Customers can now go into AA.com from wherever their cell phone or PDA works in the United States or overseas without login into any computer.

With a web enabled cell phone or web enabled device, customers will be able to use the mobile version of AA.com to check in for flights, view itinerary, check their schedule, status of their flight, information on destinations, and contact American Airlines. In the spring AA.com web site will let their customers book flights and change reservations, look at flight specials, or request an upgrade and enroll in their AAdvantage program.

American Airlines: Testing new food on flights

Gone are the days where one would fly on a domestic airline and would be served a meal or a snack. These days airlines are charging for meals, American Airlines  has been selling food in coach since 2005.

American Airlines announced yesterday, in the next two months they are going to be testing light meals on flights like snacks and beverages. On selected routes each item will be tested for a week from sandwiches at $5, snack and beverages $3 and fresh antipasto platter and $10 for fruit and cheese plate.
