I've never enjoyed precooked preheated airline food, except one time when I was upgraded to Business class on British Airways. I was served champagne before take-off, we ate fillet mignon on china dishes. It was one of the best meals I have encountered on an airplane.
According to Forbes.com,
"Much like the overall first-class product, food in first-class has
become more luxurious in recent years," says Edward Plaisted, chief
executive of Skytrax, a London-based airline and airport quality
ranking firm. "It's not just about serving multi-course meals anymore.
Airlines are focusing more on creating a personalized and superior
quality experience."
Airlines nowadays are going all out, if you fly first class with Gulf Air, expect a chef on board cooking gourmet meals. There is no reheating in first class cabins on Cathay Pacific, expect fresh cooked to order eggs and bread toasted on the spot. Almost all airlines with first-class cabins let passengers choose what kind of meal they want and at what time they want to be served.
So, if a price of 13,000 to fly first class is in your budget, why not splurge. I know I will stay with precooked preheated meals in economy.
